Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve tried to think of everything, but if you have a question we haven’t answered below, use the form on the right and ask away! We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
What makes RocTours different from other tour companies?
When you book with RocTours, you get an experience that is:
PERSONAL. With a maximum of six passengers, you’ll never feel like just another face in the crowd. Your luxury SUV is equipped with phone chargers, lap rugs, a cooler, and plenty of space for your personal belongings and purchases. And with small groups, you’ll often find yourself talking to the vintner, master brewer, farmer, or owners of the places we stop.
DIVERSE. We’re not just a beer & wine tour company. Our tours cover it all: craft beverages, local foods, local landmarks, spectacular scenery, and fun activities.
FLEXIBLE. Because our groups are small, we can pull over for that photo opp, swap stops on an itinerary, or linger longer at a venue if you’re enjoying it. And you don’t have to worry about pulling up to a stop and seeing two or three big coaches already there!
YOUR DAY. YOUR WAY. Not everyone likes the same type of beverage, and sometimes you don’t want a flight, you just want to enjoy a glass of your favorite. Or you may have visited some venues and want to try something different. So, our prices don’t include tasting fees. However, we’re happy to quote them if you wish.
Want something different? Of course, you have something in mind, and you don’t see it in our featured tours, contact us! We’d love to help you create an itinerary that shows off the best of our region while creating memories you’ll want to share over and over.
Are tasting fees included in the price?
Because groups can include folks with different preferences – some like wine, some like beer, some are just along for the fun – we don’t include tasting fees in our prices. This way you can enjoy the beverages you like, in a flight or in a glass, and not pay for what you don’t want.
Where are the pickup and dropoff points?
Our service is door-to-door! We will pick you up at your home or local accommodation, and return you to the same point.
How many people can go on a tour?
As we specialize in small-group experiences, the maximum number of passengers we can accommodate is SIX. Many of the venues on our itineraries don’t even allow groups of more than six.
If you have more than six people who wish to participate, please do contact us, because we know companies that specialize in larger tours!
Will there be other people on the tour?
When you book a tour with us, your group will be the only folks in our vehicle. Well, except for the driver! There may be other parties at the venues on their own tours, but as we visit smaller places, you won’t be elbowing up to the tasting bar with a busload of strangers!
Can we bring food and drinks into the vehicle?
Sure, you can bring beverages, snacks, even a picnic lunch!
BUT…if the food and drink results in an inordinate amount of soiling in the vehicle there is a $100 cleaning charge.
Do you visit the Finger Lakes wineries?
We have Canandaigua Lake and Keuka Lake tours you can book right on our website. While not in our online booking system (yet), we do have custom tours to Seneca Lake wineries and Cayuga Lake wineries. Contact us for details and pricing!
Can we modify the itinerary?
The beauty of our small groups is that we can modify our itineraries to suit your interests. If, for example, you’re not interested in the brewery part of a tour we can arrange to make a different stop. Most tasting venues do offer beverages other their specialty. which is why we don’t bundle tasting fees into our pricing.
It’s also easy for us to stop for photo opportunities, historic sites, or wayside markets that might not specifically be on the itinerary but we see in passing…not to mention the occasional unscheduled “courtesy stop”!
What about kids?
First, check out our “family-friendly” tours, which provide kids’ activities and some craft beverage stop for adults. They’re fun for all ages! Many wineries and breweries are family-friendly too, with games and places to play outdoors. Adults are responsible for the children in their care, and we expect you to drink responsibly if you partake in tastings. RocTours reserves the right to terminate a tour if the driver deems the adults in charge are intoxicated and unable to tend to their child(ren), or if the child(ren)’s behavior is inappropriate for the tour.
We do not provide car restraints, so if your kids are too young for a regular seatbelt, you will need to provide age-appropriate car seats or booster seats. The LATCH system is installed in the vehicle. We can accommodate up to three child car seats.
Are the tours suitable for people with disabilities?
Most tours are suitable for any ability, but if there are mobility issues please let us know in advance. Where we can we will make reasonable adjustments to the operation of our trips. Many travelers with disabilities can enjoy our trips by travelling with a friend or companion who can assist with specific needs.
We do not have wheelchair-access vehicles, so the person must be able to enter and exit the vehicle on their own, or with the assistance of a caregiver. Folding wheelchairs and other assistive devices that will fit in the rear of the vehicle are welcome. Our drivers cannot be responsible for lifting passengers in or out of the vehicle, for health and safety reasons.
