RocTours Private Tour Company Invites You To Experience Upstate, Up-Close & Personal
I’m Carol McNelly, and I’m excited to introduce a new tour company, RocTours, aimed at giving visitors and locals alike a better appreciation of the greater Rochester region on a personal basis.
RocTours offers small-group excursions to both popular and off-the-beaten-track venues, in a luxury SUV with many personal touches.
I want to show what our part of upstate New York has to offer — the people, the beautiful landscapes, the history, the culture, and the exploding agritourism sector. I want visitors to be surprised and amazed at what they find here. I want local folks to feel like they’ve experienced something they would not have on their own, or with a bus tour.
RocTours provides experiences that include historical sites and hidden gems as well as food and beverage tastings. While beverage trails are a hugely popular attraction, not everyone can, or wants to, drive themselves. People need other options apart from large bus tours or design-your-own limo trips. They want to feel like they’re getting personal attention, with the opportunity to linger longer at a spot they like or stop for that photo opp they see out the window. Not to mention unscheduled pit stops!
Tours include such themes as New York Apple Country, the Livingston Libation Loop, the Lake Ontario Wine Trail, Lockport’s Flight of Five, and Erie Canal craft beverages. Depending on the season, guests can experience orchard blossoms, pick their own fruit, navigate corn mazes, visit Lake Ontario beaches and lighthouses, and more. Popular destinations like Corning Glass – the Crystal City – are on the list all year round.
Regular tours are offered Monday through Friday, depending on the type of experience. Weekend excursions and custom itineraries are available by special arrangement.
I was inspired to create a private tour company by my experience hosting work colleagues and out-of-town family, especially international visitors, around the area and seeing how surprised and excited they were to see “the other New York”. I’ve talked to a lot of people who don’t enjoy the crowded feeling of larger tour companies and want to explore the region in a more personal setting, with more flexibililty.
